About this statute

The department must create and run a grant program for health-care training students, with priority for programs that provide internships. Applicants must apply on the department’s form, be enrolled or plan to enroll, commit to work in a rural or underserved urban area for at least one year after licensure, and follow any related scholarship or loan requirements. If they do not meet the service commitment after licensure, they must repay the grant and may owe a department-set penalty up to twice the grant amount.
