The Orange County Juvenile Board is set up, and the board and commissioners court have specified powers and duties about pay, expenses, supervision, budgeting, and use of funds.
Sec. 152.1871. ORANGE COUNTY. (a) The Orange County Juvenile Board is composed of the county judge, the district judges in Orange County, and the judge of any statutory county court. (b) The commissioners court may pay the juvenile board members additional annual compensation in an amount set by the commissioners court. The compensation paid to the judge of the county court at law may not exceed the compensation paid to the other members. (c) The commissioners court may reimburse the juvenile court judge for the judge's actual and necessary expenses incurred in attending seminars and other educational or instructional meetings relating to juvenile matters. (d) The juvenile board may require a board employee to enter into a bond payable to the board, conditioned on the faithful performance of the person's duties. The board shall pay the premium of the bond. The board may suspend or remove an employee for good cause. (e) The board shall control and supervise each county institution used to detain juveniles. The board shall appoint the superintendent of each institution. (f) The board shall set the fees and costs that relate to the programs or services the board administers. (g) The board may accept gifts or grants of real or personal property subject to the terms and conditions of the gift or grant. (h) The board shall submit an annual budget to the commissioners court. The commissioners court may appropriate and the juvenile board shall use money from the county general fund to administer this section. (i) The board may authorize the use of foster homes for the temporary care of a child alleged to be a child in need of supervision or a delinquent child. (j) Sections 152.0002, 152.0003, 152.0004, 152.0005, 152.0006, 152.0007, and 152.0008(b) do not apply to the Orange County Juvenile Board. Added by Acts 1989, 71st Leg., ch. 352, Sec. 1, eff.
