Special District Local Laws Code § 3884.155

Sec. 3884.155. MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION TAX; ELECTION. (a) The district may impose a tax for maintenance and operation purposes, including for: (1) planning, constructing, acquiring, maintaining, repairing, and operating all improvement projects, including land, plants, works, facilities, improvements, appliances, and equipment of the district; and (2) paying costs of services, engineering and legal fees, and organization and administrative expenses, including expenses of the city payable under the terms of the project development agreement described by Section 3884.160. (b) The district may not impose a maintenance and operation tax for improvement projects under this chapter unless the imposition of the tax is approved by the voters of the district voting at an election held for that purpose. An election may be called only on receipt of a petition as provided by Section 3884.151(b). (c) A maintenance and operation tax election may be held at the same time and in conjunction with any other district election.
