Government Code § 547.0257

Sec. 547.0257. DISTRIBUTING AND ALLOCATING APPROPRIATED MONEY. (a) The commission shall disburse money appropriated to or obtained by the commission for the matching grant program directly to a grant recipient, as the executive commissioner authorizes. (b) Except as provided by Subsection (c), from money appropriated to the commission for each fiscal year to implement this subchapter, the commission shall reserve 50 percent of that total to be awarded only as grants to a community mental health program located in a county with a population not greater than 250,000. (c) Without regard to the limitation provided by Subsection (b) and to the extent money appropriated to the commission to implement this subchapter for a fiscal year remains available to the commission after the commission selects grant recipients for the fiscal year, the commission shall make grants available through a competitive request for proposal process using the remaining money for the fiscal year. (d) The commission may use a reasonable amount not to exceed five percent of the money appropriated by the legislature for the purposes of this subchapter to pay the administrative costs of implementing this subchapter.
