Water Code § 57.336

Sec. 57.336. TRUSTEES' EXPENSE. (a) The trustees shall make a charge against the trust estate for each reasonable expense incurred by them in conducting the business of the district and in litigating a suit for the district. (b) The trustees shall charge any unpaid counsel fees or court costs incurred by former district officers against the trust estate. (c) The trustees shall present the charges against the trust estate to the commissioners court and shall post notice in the manner provided for other claims against the district. (d) If the commissioners court approves a charge against the trust estate, the charge becomes a valid, preferred claim against the district. (e) The trustees, acting as treasurer, may retain money in their control to pay for a valid claim which they have against the district. (f) If the commissioners court rejects a part of an expense which the trustees think is a valid claim, the trustees may appeal the decision as other claimants.
