Water Code § 62.196

Sec. 62.196. DUTIES OF ATTORNEY GENERAL. (a) Before the bonds are offered for sale, the district shall send to the attorney general: (1) a copy of the bonds to be issued; (2) a certified copy of the order of the commissioners court levying the tax; (3) a copy of the order of the commissioners court levying the tax to pay interest and provide a sinking fund; (4) a statement of the total bonded indebtedness of the district, including the series of bonds proposed and the assessed value of property for the purpose of taxation, as shown by the last official assessment by the district or, if the district has made no prior assessment, the last official assessment by the county; and (5) other information which the attorney general may require. (b) The attorney general shall carefully examine the bonds in connection with the facts, the constitution, and the laws on the execution of the bonds. (c) If as the result of the examination the attorney general finds that the bonds were issued in conformity with the constitution and laws and that they are valid and binding obligations on the district, he shall officially certify the bonds.
