Occupations Code § 501.253

Sec. 501.253. PROVISIONAL STATUS FOR CERTAIN APPLICANTS. (a) The executive council may issue a license with a provisional status to an applicant who has not satisfied the experience or examination requirements of Section 501.2525(a)(2) but is otherwise qualified for the license under Section 501.2525. (b) A license holder described by Subsection (a) is entitled to practice psychology under the supervision of a psychologist to meet the requirements for issuance of a license under Section 501.2525, except that if the license holder is licensed in another state to independently practice psychology and is in good standing in that state, the license holder is entitled to practice psychology without the supervision of a psychologist. (c) The executive council shall adopt rules that apply to a license holder described by Subsection (a) identifying: (1) the activities that the license holder may engage in; and (2) services that may be provided by the license holder. (d) The executive council may refuse to renew a license issued under Subsection (a) if the license holder does not meet the requirements prescribed by Section 501.2525(a)(2). (e) The executive council may not restrict the issuance of a license to an applicant who is licensed in another state to independently practice psychology and is in good standing in that state based on the number of years the applicant has been licensed in good standing in that state.
