Education Code § 130.0051

Sec. 130.0051. OTHER CHANGE OF NAME BY JUNIOR COLLEGE DISTRICT. (a) The board of trustees of a junior college district by resolution may change the name of the district or a college within the district, unless the change would cause the district or college to have the same or substantially the same name as an existing district, college, or other public or private institution of higher education in this state. (b) The board of trustees shall file with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board a copy of a resolution adopted under Subsection (a) that is certified by the secretary of the board of trustees. The name change is effective on the date the resolution is filed with the coordinating board. After a name change is filed, the college or district shall use the new name in all official actions, communications, or records. Added by Acts 1997, 75th Leg., ch. 570, Sec. 1, eff. Sept. 1, 1997.
