This section gives a Val Verde County court at law concurrent jurisdiction in family law cases, sets pay and expense rules for the judge, assigns clerk duties, and requires 12 jurors in family law jury trials.
Sec. 25.2352. VAL VERDE COUNTY COURT AT LAW PROVISIONS. (a) In addition to the jurisdiction provided by Section 25.0003 and other law, a county court at law in Val Verde County has concurrent jurisdiction with the district court in family law cases and proceedings. (e) The judge of a county court at law shall be paid an annual salary that is at least $20,000 but not more than 90 percent of the total compensation paid the district judge. The salary shall be paid by the county treasurer on order of the commissioners court. (h) The district clerk serves as clerk of a county court at law in family law cases and proceedings and the county clerk serves as clerk of the court in all other matters.
