This section gives the Act’s short title: the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides Associations Act. This section defines several terms used in the Act. A person may not publicly wear or carry Scout or Girl Guides uniforms, badges, tokens, or emblems in a way that suggests they are entitled to do so, and may not sell or offer such items for sale without written permission. A person must not form, organise, or work with bodies that claim to be Boy Scouts or Girl Guides, or present themselves as connected with those associations, unless authorised under the relevant Royal Charter. Boy Scouts may not pretend to be public officers, and Boy Scouts or Girl Guides may not use uniforms or badges to claim or exercise authority unless authorised by the relevant rules.
