Statute overview

About this statute

This provision says the Act may be cited as the Fencing Act. The Minister can apply the Act to an area by statutory notice, but only after published notice and a favorable vote by the majority of owners of occupied farms present and voting. This section defines key terms used in the Act and gives the Minister power to amend the Fourth Schedule by statutory notice. Owners of adjoining lands without a sufficient fence must join in or help pay for a dividing fence in equal proportions. A person who wants another person to help pay for a dividing fence may serve a written notice requiring it.
