About this statute

This section says the Act may be cited as the Aviation Act. This section defines key terms used in the Act, such as aerodrome, aircraft, Convention, owner, proclamation, and superior police officer. The Convention has effect within Zambia. Amendments ratified on behalf of Zambia must be laid before the National Assembly as soon as possible. The Minister may take necessary and expedient steps to give effect to the Convention or any Annex. The Minister may make regulations on the listed aviation matters and may set penalties for breaches, subject to a cap in section 19. The Minister may declare restricted areas and issue orders controlling aircraft and aerodrome-related activity in an emergency situation.
