About this statute

This section says the Act may be cited as the Pig Industry Act. This section defines key terms used in the Act. Part II does not apply to certain pigs, including pigs produced by a producer and eaten by the producer, household members, or servants. A levy applies to pigs produced and slaughtered in Zambia, at a rate set by the Minister, and the levy must be remitted to the Permanent Secretary. The Minister may, by statutory order and at any time, withdraw the levy or suspend collection of the levy, in whole or in part.
