Statute overview

About this statute

This section says the Act may be cited as the Personal Levy Act. This section defines key terms used in the Act and says a person can be treated as living in an area even if only there temporarily. A levy authority may charge and collect a personal levy each levy year from adult persons in its area who receive income, at 1% subject to a K300,000 annual income threshold and a K15,000 annual maximum. This section exempts certain people from paying the levy and gives officers and the levy authority power to grant or revoke exemptions in some cases. A levy authority must appoint levy assessment committees and may appoint assistant levy assessment officers and revenue collectors as needed.
