About this statute

This provision gives the Act its short title: the General Loans (Guarantee) Act. This section defines “agreement,” “corporation,” and “World Bank” for use in the Act. The Minister may guarantee a corporation’s obligations under an agreement and may authorize a person to sign or execute the guarantee in writing. A corporation must use any World Bank loan for the purposes set out in the agreement. The Minister, or an authorised officer in his ministry, must repay certain guarantee-related sums to Her Majesty’s Treasury in the United Kingdom, with interest at rates fixed by that Treasury in consultation with the Minister.
