About this statute

This section gives the Act’s short title: the Tobacco Levy Act. This section defines key terms used in the Act. The Minister may prescribe any class of tobacco as leviable tobacco under this Act. A levy must be imposed on leviable tobacco grown and sold in the Republic at the rate set in the Schedule. Every grower must pay the levy to the Minister on leviable tobacco they sell or have sold for them, unless subsection (2) applies.
