About this statute

This section gives the Act its short title: the Nurses and Midwives Act. This section defines key terms and says certain nurses and midwives may use protected professional titles if their names appear in the relevant register or roll entries. This section establishes the General Nursing Council of Zambia as a body corporate. The Council may create committees, delegate some of its powers to a committee, and make rules for how those committees operate. The Council appoints the Registrar, may appoint an acting Registrar or other staff, and the Registrar must serve as secretary and keep minutes as instructed.
