About this statute

This provision says the Act may be cited as the Forests Act. This section defines key terms used in the Act. Ownership of trees and forest produce on the listed lands is vested in the President on behalf of the Republic, until lawfully transferred or assigned. The Chief Conservator of Forests is responsible for carrying out this Act and may delegate functions and duties to the Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests or another forest officer, subject to the Act and the Minister’s directions. A Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests must be a public officer and carry out powers and duties delegated by the Chief Conservator.
