This section gives the Act its short title, says it is read together with the principal Betting Control Act, and states that it starts on 1 January 1990. This section amends section 5(3) by replacing two kwacha amounts with higher amounts. Section 15(2) is amended to replace “two hundred kwacha” with “four thousand kwacha.” This section changes a money amount in section six of the principal Act from two hundred kwacha to four thousand kwacha. Section 17 is amended to replace “one hundred kwacha” with “two thousand kwacha.”

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Betting Control (Amend ment) Act, 1989, and shall be read as one with the Betting Control Act in this Act referred to as the principal Act. (2) This Act shall come into operation on 1st January, 1990.
