About this statute

This section gives the Act’s short title and says it is to be read together with the principal Act. This section defines key terms used in the Act, including pollution, person, pollutor, Council, standards, and several Council offices. The Environmental Council is established as a body corporate. The Minister appoints the Council’s listed members, the members appoint a Vice-Chairman, and an absent member’s ministry or organisation may nominate a substitute in writing in some cases. Members serve a three-year term, can be reappointed, and cannot serve more than two terms.
