This section gives the Act its short title and says it is to be read together with the Betting Control Act. It also states that it is deemed to have come into operation on 1 February 1992.

1. (l LThi.s Act may bo cited� the Betting Control (Amend ment)Act, 1992, and shall be read as one with the Betting Control Act, in this Act referred to as the principal Act. Licensed bookmakers must pay a fee when a licence is issued: 20,000 kwacha for a first issue and 10,000 kwacha for each renewal.
