(1) This Act may be cited as the Betting Control (Amend­ ment) Act, 1993, and shall be read as one with the Betting Control Act, in this Act referred to as the principal Act. (2) This Act shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 30th January, 1993. 2. The principal Act is amended by the repeal of section fourteen and the substitution therefor of the following section: 14. Every bookmaker licensed under this Act shall be required to pay at the time of the issue of his licence a fee of fifty thousand kwacha in the case of a first issue of a licence and twenty-five thousand kwacha in the case of each renewal thereof.
