Appropriation Act, 1997

1. Thfs Act may be cited as the Appropriation Act, 1997.

2. (I) On the authority or a warrant issued by the President; there may be expended from the general revenues of the Republic such moneys, not exceeding in the aggregate one thousand and four hundred and eighty-nine billion one hundred and forty-six million, four hundred and four thousand, four hundred and forty-eight kwacha as may be required for the services of the Republic during the financial year�nding on 31st December, 1997. (2) The moneys referred to in subsection (1) shall be appropri­ ated to the services of the Republic speci lied in the second column of the Schedule in amounts not exceeding the amounts indicated in the third column of the Schedule. (3) On the written authority of the Secretary to the Treasury, Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, the amounls shown under the sub-heads of estimates may be varied: Provided that- ( a) the amounts appropriated to each Head shall notthereby be altered; and (b) any of the amounts shown under Head 20 or21 shall not be varied.
