About this statute

The Act is to be administered and implemented by the Administration Ministry responsible for community development and social welfare. The Board must have 15 part-time members appointed by the Minister, who also appoints the Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson. The Board must carry out listed functions relating to NGO registration, oversight, reporting, guidance, and approval of a code of conduct. A Registrar for Non-Governmental Organisations must exist, and the Public Service Commission appoints that Registrar and any other officers needed for the Act. The Board must establish and maintain a documentation centre about non-governmental organisations in Zambia.
