About this statute

This section gives the Act’s short title and introduces definitions that apply unless context requires otherwise. This section defines key terms used in the Education Act. This section says the Act does not apply to certain universities and education institutions. The Minister must promote education, oversee the education system, and secure cooperation on education policy, and may consult others to prepare an education development plan. The Minister must develop a national policy on education with Cabinet’s approval, consult appropriate advisory bodies or organisations before doing so, and publish the policy in the Gazette if Cabinet adopts it.
