This section gives the Act its short title, says it is to be read with the Lands Act, and states that it comes into operation on 1 January 2016.

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Lands (Amendment) Act, 2015, and shall be read as one with the Lands Act, in this Act referred to as the principal Act. Short title and commencement Cap. 184 (2) This Act shall come into operation on 1st January, 2016.

The section amends section 4 to stop the President from alienating certain land unless money consideration and ground rent are received, except for public-purpose alienations.

2. Section four of the principal Act is amended— (a) by the deletion of subsection (1) and the substitution therefor of the following: Amendment of section 4 (1) The President shall not alienate land under subsection (2) or (3) of section three without receiving consideration, in money, for such alienation and ground rent for such land except where the alienation is for a public purpose.; and (b) in subsection (2)— (i) by the insertion in paragraph (g), immediately after the word “purposes”, of the words “by the Government”; and (ii) by the insertion in paragraph (h), immediately after the word “resources”, of the words “by the Government”.
