About this statute

This section gives the Act’s short title: Forests Act, 2015. This section defines terms used in the Act, including forest, forest produce, Department, Director, and authorised officer. Trees and forest produce in the listed areas are owned by the President on behalf of the Republic until they are lawfully transferred or assigned. The Public Service Commission must appoint specified forestry staff; the Director is responsible for administering the Act; and the Director and Minister have powers to delegate, revoke, vary, or confer powers and duties in writing or by statutory order. The Department must manage and conserve forest resources, advise the Minister, and issue licences and permits under the Act.
