About this statute

This section says the Act may be cited as the Passports Act, 2016. This section defines terms used in the Act, including officers, documents, and related institutions. These officers are responsible for administering the Act; the Chief Passports and Citizenship Officer can issue travel documents and may delegate functions. No action or proceeding may be brought against the Chief Passports and Citizenship Officer, a passport officer, or other staff for acts or omissions done in good faith while carrying out functions under the Act. A citizen is entitled to be issued a passport or travel document for international travel, and may lawfully hold a passport and a diplomatic passport.
