Statute overview

About this statute

This section gives the Act’s short title and says it starts on a date the Minister appoints by statutory instrument. This section mainly defines aviation terms used in the Act and says some terms take their meaning from Annexes or the Civil Aviation Authority Act, 2012. This section says the Act and related conventions apply to specified aviation persons, aircraft, facilities, and activities in Zambia, but not to State aircraft and related persons or State-aircraft aerodromes unless otherwise provided. This section sets territorial scope rules for the Act and requires certain airline operators or agencies to designate a country of registry for cross-border civil aircraft and notify the Authority and ICAO. This section defines when an aircraft is considered to be in flight and in service.
