This section gives the Act’s short title: Refugees Act, 2017. This section defines key terms used in the Act. This section sets up the Office of the Commissioner for Refugees, requires the Civil Service Commission to appoint key refugee officials, and requires refugee officers to carry and show an identification card while performing functions under the Act. The Commissioner must handle refugee recognition and related services in Zambia, and may be assisted by a Deputy Commissioner or refugee officer.
