Statute overview

About this statute

This section gives the Act its short title and says it starts on a date the Minister appoints by statutory instrument. This section defines terms used in the Act, including “Agency,” “compulsory standard,” “certification,” “inspector,” and “supplier.” This section establishes the Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency and gives it corporate powers, including power to establish regional offices with Board consultation and Ministerial approval. The Agency decides what its seal looks like, the Executive Director keeps it, and certain officials must authenticate its use. Some agency contracts or instruments may be signed without the seal by the Executive Director or an authorised person. The Agency must carry out compulsory-standards oversight and may use several administrative tools to do so.
