About this statute

This section gives the Act its short title and says it starts on a date appointed by the President by statutory instrument. This section defines terms used in the Act, including approved website, authentication, e-government service, electronic service, information system, public body, source identification number, and unique identity. This Act does not limit or restrict other laws regulating dealings between the Government and the public, subject to the rest of the Act. This section lists the guiding principles for e-government service delivery, including citizen and business focus, integrated processes, shared information, protection of lawful data, prudent public spending, and private-sector collaboration. The Electronic Government Division is set up in the Office of the President and must administer the Act and coordinate e-government and ICT matters in public bodies, under the President’s general direction.
