Purpose and legislative effect
“This section gives the Order’s short title: it may be cited as the Control of Goods (Price Control) (Clothing Prices) Order, 1981.”
This section gives the Order’s short title: it may be cited as the Control of Goods (Price Control) (Clothing Prices) Order, 1981. The Order defines key clothing-pricing terms and requires manufacturers to follow maximum-price, labelling, and recordkeeping rules. Manufacturers, made-to-measure manufacturers, and wholesalers must issue an invoice for every clothing sale, and the invoice must show the prime cost, quantity, unit price, and total. Manufacturers who want to distribute their clothing in Zambia and charge the increase mentioned in paragraph 4 must apply to be registered as large manufacturers. The Ministry may register an applicant as a large manufacturer if the stated information is received and the Permanent Secretary is satisfied about distribution resources; refusals and cancellations can be appealed in writing within 30 days, and cancellation ends the registration.
