Control of Goods (Manufacturing, Importation of Machetes and Knives) (Prohibition) Order, 2021

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Control of Goods (Manufacturing, Importation of Machetes andknives)(Prohibition) Order, 2021 Title, commencement and revocation (2) This Order shall come into operation on 1 st June, 2021 and shall stand revoked on 31st October, 2021.

2. (1) A person shall not manufacture, sell, distribute, import or unlawfully display a machete or knife. (2) The provisions of subparagraph (1) do not apply to a machete and knife or any class of such goods which are in the course of transit through Zambia to another country.

3. (1) Where an authorised officer has reason to believe that a machete, knife, instrument and other property is reasonably suspected to be manufactured or imported in contravention of this Order, the authorised officer may enter any premises and seize or detain the machete or knife, instrument and other property until an order of the Court is made regarding the disposal thereof. Price K4.00 each. 596 Statutory Instruments 22nd June, 2021 (2) Despite subparagraph (1), an authorised officer may seize and detain a conveyance transporting a machete, knife or any other instrument used in contravention of this Order. (3) The Forfeiture of Proceeds of Crime Act, 2010 applies in relation to a machete, knife, building or other property liable to seizure or forfeiture under this Order. Offence and Penalty Cap. 322
