  2. 2 Whether the applicant was denied necessary medical treatment while detained
  3. 3 Whether disciplinary and restrictive measures imposed were justified and proportionate

Ratio Decidendi

The Court found that the applicant's prolonged detention in solitary confinement under restrictive conditions, combined with inadequate medical care and repeated disciplinary measures, approached or crossed the threshold of inhuman and degrading treatment prohibited by Article 3 ECHR. The negative spiral between the applicant and prison staff resulted in exceptionally severe detention conditions, which were not sufficiently justified by the applicant's behaviour. The authorities failed to ensure humane treatment and adequate medical care, violating the applicant's rights under Article 3.
