In re MMK (Minor) (Adoption Cause E071 of 2026) [2026] KEHC 11829 (KLR) (Family) (30 July 2026) (Judgment) Neutral citation: [2026] KEHC 11829 (KLR) Republic of Kenya In the High Court at Nairobi (Milimani Law Courts) Family Adoption Cause E071 of 2026 HK Chemitei, J July 30, 2026 IN THE MATTER OF ADOPTION OF MMK (MINOR) In the matter of COK 1st Applicant VNO 2nd Applicant Judgment 1.The Originating Summons dated 13th April 2026 seeks the following orders that:(a)The Applicants be authorised to adopt Baby MMK, the minor herein.(b)Upon adoption the child is to be known as MMO.(c)The Registrar General be ordered to make appropriate entries in the Adopted Children’s Register in respect of MMO.(d)The Court be pleased to appoint HNO as the legal guardian of MMO upon granting the adoption orders.(e)Baby MMO be considered a Kenyan citizen. 2.The application is based on the statements attached as well as the supporting affidavit and the annexures. 3.The court on 30th April 2026 appointed the guardian ad litem and directed that a report be prepared by the Children’s Department. 4.The said report dated 22nd May 2026 has been filed and I have perused it extensively. 5.The parties on 2nd July 2026 appeared before the court albeit online and the court examined them. They all appreciated their respective roles. 6.Based on the above conclusions and the paper trail on board the court is satisfied that the summons is meritorious. 7.The Originating summons is hereby allowed and VMN is hereby discharged as guardian ad litem. 8.Costs in the cause.
