In re DT (Minor) (Adoption Cause E273 of 2015) [2026] KEHC 6629 (KLR) (Family) (14 May 2026) (Judgment) Neutral citation: [2026] KEHC 6629 (KLR) Republic of Kenya In the High Court at Nairobi (Milimani Law Courts) Family Adoption Cause E273 of 2015 HK Chemitei, J May 14, 2026 IN THE MATTER OF DT (MINOR) In the matter of MKM 1st Applicant FWG 2nd Applicant Judgment 1.In their Originating summons dated 30th September 2025 the applicants seek the following orders, that;(a)The applicant MKM and FWG be authorised to adopt the male child currently known as DT.(b)DMM and MM be appointed as legal guardians.(c)The subject be renamed NAK.(d)The Registrar General makes appropriate entries in the Adopted Children Register in the prescribed form.(e)The Registrar of Births and Deaths does issue a birth certificate to the subject minor. 2.The application is based on the sworn affidavits jointly made by the applicants dated the same date together with the annexures therein. 3.The court on 30th September 2025 directed that a report be prepared by the Children’s Department in respect of the parties herein. 4.The same is dated 26th January 2026 and I have perused it extensively and I find it positive. 5.Further the parties appeared before me on 19th March 2026 and I was able to interview them orally and they all appreciated their roles and responsibilities. 6.In the premises and based on the documents filed herein and the oral interview albeit online I do find the Originating Summons meritorious and allow the same as prayed with no orders as to costs. 7.WKG is hereby discharged as guardian ad litem.
