The court held that the applicant is entitled to judgment for the taxed costs as per the certificate of taxation, as there was no dispute as to retainer or other sufficient reason to withhold judgment. On the issue of interest, the court found that Rule 7 of the Advocates Remuneration Order allows an advocate to claim interest at 14% per annum from one month after delivery of the bill, provided the claim is made before payment. The court determined that the applicant made a demand for payment on 18th April 2019, giving the respondent 14 days to settle.
