The High Court lacks jurisdiction to tax advocate-client bills of costs arising from proceedings before the Employment and Labour Relations Court (ELRC). The Constitution expressly bars the High Court from hearing and determining disputes reserved for the ELRC and ELC. The Deputy Registrar of the High Court, therefore, acted without jurisdiction in taxing the bill of costs dated 18th August 2023. The proper forum for such taxation is the ELRC, which has the requisite jurisdiction and authority to call for and peruse the relevant court files.
