The Claimant proved that a loan of Ksh 18,000 was advanced to the Respondent at a contractual interest rate of 20% per month. However, the Tribunal held that the total amount claimed (Ksh 72,000) was excessive and unenforceable as it violated the in duplum rule, which limits recoverable interest to an amount not exceeding the principal.
