The court found that the Plaintiff did not meet the requirements for adverse possession. Although he entered into possession of the suit land in 1999 after a sale agreement with the deceased, the land was registered in the name of the Settlement Fund Trustee (a public entity) until 10th January 2012. Time for adverse possession could only start running from the date the land was registered in the name of the deceased, a private individual. The Plaintiff was evicted from the land on 27th December 2012, less than a year after the relevant registration, and filed suit on 18th June 2014, by which time he was no longer in possession.
