The court found that although the Applicants had purchased and taken possession of the suit property from the deceased between 1989 and 2000, they failed to demonstrate that the land was registered in someone else's name for the statutory minimum period of twelve years required for adverse possession. The evidence showed that the land was only registered in the Respondents' names in 2016, after the originating summons was filed in 2012, and there was no proof of earlier registration. Since time for adverse possession cannot run on unregistered land, the Applicants could not satisfy the legal requirements for adverse possession under the Limitation of Actions Act.
