In re AZ alias EO (Minor) (Adoption Cause 175 of 2018) [2026] KEHC 6076 (KLR) (Family) (7 May 2026) (Judgment) Neutral citation: [2026] KEHC 6076 (KLR) Republic of Kenya In the High Court at Nairobi (Milimani Law Courts) Family Adoption Cause 175 of 2018 HK Chemitei, J May 7, 2026 IN THE MATTER OF AZ ALIAS BABY EO (MINOR) In the matter of JOO 1st Applicant BAO 2nd Applicant Judgment 1.The Originating Summons dated 8th November 2018 seeks the following orders:-(a)That the Applicants herein be authorised to adopt the minor AZ alias Baby EO.(b)The Registrar of Persons do enter the said adoption in the Adopted Children’s Register and issue an adoption certificate in favour of the Applicants’ herein as the adoptive parents of ROO as the adopted child.(c)The Registrar of Persons after the entry above, the Registrar of Births and Deaths do issues a birth certificate in favour of ROO to JOO and BAO. 2.The application is based on the Applicant’s sworn affidavits and the respective statements on record as well as the annexures thereto sworn on the same date. 3.The court on 17th July 2025 directed the Children’s Department to prepare a comprehensive report in respect to the parties. It also appointed one EAO as guardian ad litem. 4.The report was indeed prepared and the same is dated 17th March 2026 and I have had the occasion to peruse it extensively. 5.The parties appeared before the court albeit online on 30th October 2025 and were interviewed orally and they each appreciated their respective duties and responsibilities over the minor. 6.In the premises and based on the paper trail on record I do find merit in the application and the same is hereby allowed as prayed. 7.EAO is discharged as guardian ad litem. 8.Costs in the cause.
