The explanation that the file was with the Deputy Registrar was unsupported by evidence, and the defendant's advocates failed to act with reasonable diligence. The court held that the execution proceedings of 21st July 2016 were unlawful due to non-compliance with Order 22 Rule 18, which mandates issuance of a notice to show cause when execution is sought more than one year after judgment.
