The court found that the petitioner erred by failing to obtain the consent or renunciation of his three siblings before applying for the grant of letters of administration. The Law of Succession Act requires that, in the absence of a surviving spouse, all surviving children have equal entitlement to the estate and to the administration thereof. The court exercised its discretion to revoke the grant issued solely to the petitioner and ordered that a fresh grant be issued jointly to both the petitioner and the applicant.
