Upon expiry of the lease, the defendant remained in occupation without the landlord's consent and without paying rent, thus becoming a tenant at sufferance. The plaintiff was entitled to unpaid rent for the period up to the expiry of the lease and to mesne profits for the period of wrongful occupation thereafter.
