The High Court lacks jurisdiction to supervise or intervene in matters that fall within the exclusive jurisdiction of the Environment and Land Court, including supervisory jurisdiction over the Magistrates Court in environment and land matters. The ELC, as a court of equal status to the High Court, is the proper forum for such supervisory functions. The applicant's request for the High Court to call for the lower court file and grant injunctive relief in a land dispute is therefore misconceived and contrary to the constitutional and statutory framework governing court jurisdictions in Kenya.
