The court found that the applicants had provided a reasonable explanation for the delay in filing the appeal, namely, that the judgment was delivered during the COVID-19 pandemic when court operations were disrupted and they were not notified of the delivery date. The delay of two months was not considered inordinate. The court exercised its discretion under Section 79G of the Civil Procedure Act and relevant case law to grant leave to file the appeal out of time. Regarding stay of execution, the court noted both parties agreed that if stay was granted, the decretal sum should be deposited in a joint interest earning account, which aligns with Order 42 Rule 6(2) of the Civil Procedure...
