The court held that the Land Disputes Tribunal lacked jurisdiction to determine disputes relating to ownership of land and cancellation of title, as its powers were strictly limited by Section 3(1) of the Land Disputes Tribunal Act to matters of boundaries, occupation, or trespass. Since the dispute before the Tribunal was over ownership of land and cancellation of title, both the Tribunal and the Appeals Committee acted outside their jurisdiction. Consequently, their decisions were null and void ab initio.
