The High Court found that the respondent, as the only child of a deceased son of the intestate, had locus standi to claim her late father's share in the estate without first obtaining a grant of representation for her father's estate. The appellant's payment of estate debts did not entitle him to the entire estate, as such liabilities should have been disclosed and settled from the estate, not as a basis for exclusive entitlement.
